How Koh Samui vape delivery works

Standard delivery to Koh Samui is free and takes 4 days. That’s longer than on the mainland because of the water: your box usually travels by road to Donsak pier near Surat Thani, crosses on the car ferry to Nathon, and then goes out to your address with a local courier.

It arrives in a plain box with nothing on it that says what’s inside. Grab express only runs in Bangkok, so there’s no faster option on the island.

The manager needs your name, the address (the resort or villa as listed on Google Maps) and a Thai phone number, yours or the front desk’s. Payment and the rest of the process are on how to order.

Monsoon season: order before the ferries stop

Samui’s rainy season comes at a different time of year than Phuket’s. The wet season in the Gulf of Thailand is October to December, and it peaks in November, when the northeast monsoon brings storms off the sea.

When the sea gets rough, ferry operators cancel sailings, sometimes for several days in a row. Parcels simply wait on the mainland until the boats run again. If your trip falls in those months:

• Message us as soon as you know where you’re staying.
• Order enough for the whole trip rather than topping up as you go.
• Treat 4 days as the minimum, not a promise, during a storm week.

Resorts, villas and bungalows

Big resorts are easy: reception holds the parcel until you collect it. Villas need more care. Many have no front desk and a gate the courier can’t open, so a Thai number you’ll actually answer is essential. If you don’t have a local SIM yet, the villa manager’s number works.

Beach bungalows sit somewhere in between. The office is often open in the daytime only, so it’s worth telling the staff a parcel is on its way.

Island addresses add one more wrinkle. Many places on Samui are written as a house number plus a village (Moo) number rather than a street, and two properties can sit far apart with nearly the same address. A Google Maps pin gets the courier to your door much faster than the written version.

Here for the season?

If you’re renting in Maenam or Bophut for a couple of months rather than a week, it’s worth settling into a rhythm: one larger order every few weeks instead of several small ones, each timed so the next box lands before the last one runs out.

Flying in: where customs actually happens

Samui Airport (USM) is run by Bangkok Airways, and most flights come in from Bangkok. If you connect from an international flight in Bangkok, that’s a domestic arrival with no customs check: you cleared customs earlier, at Suvarnabhumi or wherever you first landed in Thailand.

A handful of international flights do land on Samui, from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, and those passengers clear customs on the island. The budget route of flying to Surat Thani and taking the bus and ferry from Donsak is domestic all the way.

Samui’s beach rules are narrower than you’ve heard

Thailand’s 2018 no-smoking list of 24 beaches includes only one on Samui, Bo Phut. Chaweng and Lamai weren’t on it, although some foreign travel advice still talks loosely about “Koh Samui beaches”. Smoking is still banned inside restaurants, bars, shops and malls, and in hotel lobbies and common areas.
