What to put in the address

Bangkok couriers deliver to three kinds of places, and each one needs slightly different details.

• Hotels. The hotel’s name as it appears on Google Maps, plus the name on your booking. The parcel is left at reception for you.
• Condos and serviced apartments. Building name, tower and unit number. Couriers usually leave parcels with the juristic office or lobby staff, and travelers report that some newer buildings use parcel lockers.
• Guesthouses and hostels. A phone number that actually rings. A Thai SIM is best; the reception’s number works too.

Beyond that we only need your name. Everything goes in a chat, and the manager reads it back to you before anything ships.

Why there’s no Bangkok vape shop to walk into

Search “Bangkok vape shop” and you’ll get map pins, Telegram channels and stalls that come and go. We don’t have a storefront or an office anywhere in the city. Bringing these products into Thailand is hard, so we skip the counter and send orders through Kerry Express, Flash Express and Grab.

What the ban looks like on Bangkok streets

Vapes and heated tobacco are formally banned nationwide, and the capital is no exception. Day to day, it’s calmer than the headlines suggest. Bangkok’s own crackdowns have aimed at sellers: in March 2024, City Hall and the Ministry of Public Health raided 15 sale points near schools, not tourists.

A few simple habits help you avoid attention:

• Don’t vape indoors. Air-conditioned bars and restaurants, malls, the BTS and MRT, taxis and river piers are all smoke-free, and staff may ask you to stop.
• Keep it in your pocket on the nightlife strips. Travelers report more police attention around Nana and Khao San Road late at night.
• Stay polite if you’re stopped. Fines happen, but they’re the exception. When one is issued, the UK Foreign Office says it’s typically 5,000–30,000 Thai baht.

The best-known case dates from January 2023. Officers at a checkpoint on Ratchadaphisek Road took about 27,000 THB (about $790) from a Taiwanese actress and her friends over their vapes and missing passports. Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang: where customs happens

Most long-haul flights land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), and that’s where you clear customs. It’s also the one place where the ban is enforced strictly: a vape or an IQOS found in your luggage can be taken, and you may be fined on top.

Don Mueang (DMK) serves low-cost airlines such as AirAsia, Nok Air and Thai Lion Air on domestic and regional routes. Fly in from another Asian city and you clear customs at DMK instead. Land at BKK and connect to Phuket or Samui, and customs happens only once, in Bangkok.

If you need a cigarette after a long flight, Suvarnabhumi only allows smoking in outdoor areas on the ground floor, never inside the terminal.
