Why HEETS disappeared
Philip Morris has phased out HEETS in most markets, together with the bladed IQOS devices that used them. Japan ended HEETS sales by January 2024. IQOS Germany stopped selling them on its website in March 2026, and IQOS UK sells only its remaining stock. The official IQOS online stores in Indonesia and Malaysia now sell only TEREA.
Many HEETS flavors disappeared in the EU even earlier. Since October 2023 the EU has banned every flavor except tobacco in heated tobacco, so menthol and fruit HEETS vanished there first.
The replacement is IQOS ILUMA i with TEREA sticks. It heats by induction instead of a blade.
HEETS in Thailand today
We don’t sell HEETS. A few Thai gray-market shops still list them, often as “HEETS Malaysia,” but supply is patchy and you can’t count on finding them.
Some shops also call Malaysian TEREA “HEETS,” which makes things confusing. Those sticks are TEREA, and they won’t work in a bladed IQOS. Check the pack before you pay.
All heated tobacco, HEETS and TEREA alike, is formally banned in Thailand, though enforcement is softer in practice. The one real risk is airport customs, so ordering here is easier than packing sticks from home. More in our guide on whether IQOS is legal in Thailand.
HEETS and TEREA don’t mix
The two sticks are built for different devices:
- HEETS work only in bladed IQOS: IQOS 2.4 and 2.4 Plus, IQOS 3, IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 3 MULTI, and IQOS ORIGINALS ONE and DUO.
- HEETS in ILUMA i won’t heat. ILUMA i uses induction, and HEETS have no metal element inside for it to heat.
- TEREA in an old IQOS is a no. TEREA has a metal heating element with sharp edges, and IQOS warns never to use it in an IQOS 3 DUO or earlier.
So switching means a new device plus TEREA. Your old IQOS won’t be any use with the new sticks.
Switching: what you need
A device. If you had a two-piece IQOS 3 DUO or ORIGINALS DUO, ILUMA i (from 5,100 THB, about $149) will feel familiar: a holder plus a pocket charger. If you had a one-piece IQOS 3 MULTI or ORIGINALS ONE, go for ILUMA i ONE (from 4,200 THB, about $122). Compare all three on the ILUMA i page.
TEREA. Cartons of 10 packs start at 2,550 THB (about $74), or 2,400 THB (about $70) each for 2 or more.
A few things work differently from your old IQOS. There’s no blade to break, and the device doesn’t need cleaning. And heating starts on its own as soon as you insert a stick.

Indonesian and Malaysian TEREA reuse many HEETS names, which makes switching easy. A matching name means the same flavor profile, though the taste may not be identical. The table below pairs each HEETS flavor with its closest TEREA. Where there’s no same-name match, it’s marked as the closest match.
A few highlights:
- Amber: TEREA Amber (Malaysia) is the direct match. From Japan, Regular comes closest.
- Turquoise: TEREA Turquoise (Malaysia) or Green (Indonesia).
- Purple Wave: TEREA Purple Wave, in both the Indonesian and Malaysian versions.
- Yellow, Silver and Teak: no TEREA with the same name. Japan’s Balance, Clear Regular and Warm come closest, and Malaysian Amber also works for Teak.
